AI Use Policy

Principles for transparent and responsible use of artificial intelligence in manuscript preparation and publication.

Responsibility

Authors remain fully responsible for the article, including its accuracy, data, arguments, sources and conclusions. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Permitted uses

AI may be used for language editing, translation, limited ideation, technical assistance or data analysis when consistent with research ethics and applicable policies.

Disclosure

When AI materially contributes to drafting, translation, substantial editing, analysis or generated content, authors must disclose the tool, version or date where relevant, and the nature of use at submission. Minor non-substantive spelling or grammar assistance does not require a separate disclosure.

Prohibited uses

AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, results, quotations or references; conceal material AI use; replace author responsibility; or process confidential material in a manner that breaches confidentiality or rights.

Review confidentiality

Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or identifying information to public AI systems unless the tool is permitted and provides appropriate confidentiality and security.

Consequences

Undisclosed material AI use, fabrication, plagiarism or confidentiality breaches may be investigated before or after publication under the journal's research-integrity and publication-ethics policies.
